We developed this language therapy about 20 years ago for people with post stroke aphasia (Pulverm\u00fcller et al., 2001). The effectiveness of this therapeutic method has been demonstrated in a number of randomized-controlled clinical trials. Due to its effectiveness, CIAT\/ILAT is now applied in many clinical centres worldwide to treat people with acquired aphasia.<\/p>\n<p>ILAT is usually applied in a group setting with 3 people with aphasia and a therapist. It is applied for ca. 2 hours a day for a period of 2-3 consecutive weeks.<\/p>\n<p>ILAT is one of the most effective treatment methods for language and communication problems in aphasia. PPA is considered as a specific form of dementia affecting primarily the language system in the brain.
